I was Jade’s instructor in a graduate novel writing workshop at Emerson College in the fall of 2025. I was extraordinarily impressed by her abilities as a thoughtful, highly professional, and truly superlative member of the workshop. Her written critique letters to other students, which were required weekly, stood out for their excellence. Jade demonstrated an impressive ability to see both the bigger picture with regard to student manuscripts and to offer precise and actionable feedback related to aspects of the narrative crafting and content. Week after week during, Jade was able to offer clear and highly pertinent suggestions and then elaborate on those ideas in a meaningful way—one that worked with and harnessed the strengths of the manuscript under consideration, while also asking important generative questions of the writers regarding their intentions. I would add that her ability in this regard is a rare gift, as more often readers and editors tend toward reactive feedback that is not fully attuned to the spirit of what is already on the page. Jade’s feedback meanwhile is the kind the makes writers excited to get back to their writing projects, and her commentary during in-class discussions was equally insightful and articulate. She has an amazing skillset and sensibility when it comes to understanding narrative craft!

Handing over a manuscript for revisions is a common fear among writers, but Jade is the type of editor who will ease you out of that fear and leave you feeling confident in the future of your manuscript. I worked with Jade on developmental edits for my horror manuscript, and after our intake call, I was sure that my manuscript would be in great hands. Jade is the type of editor to fight for the author’s vision and intention. The editorial letter and in-line revisions she provided left me certain that she understood my vision and had carefully analyzed my work for areas to enhance it. From character development, pacing, and setting description, she astutely provided suggestions for enhancing my theme and atmosphere. She provided thorough weekly updates of her progress through my work, which left me feeling secure throughout the process. All in all, I would recommend Jade to any writer.
